Easy Off Oven Cleaner Product Review

gross roasting/broiler pan
I was sent a $5 Walmart Gift Card by Smiley360 in order to do this review. I had a choice between the different Easy Off Oven Cleaner varieties: Fume Free Trigger, Fume Free Spray, Heavy Duty, BBQ Grill Cleaner, and Cooktop Cleaner.

My father pretty much lives alone so he cooks and cleans for himself. I know there are things that get neglected, one being the oven, so I decided I'd try and clean it for him. Well I don't know what I got myself into because wow, that oven was a mess! But before all this I had to head to Wal-Mart and buy some Easy-Off to try out. The $5 gift card was more than enough to cover the product and taxes. I can honestly say I don't normally shop at Wal-Mart. The lines are always horrendous and most times the cashiers are hard to work with. This is not a generalization of all Wal'Mart shopping, this is just about my own area store that I normally avoid like the plague.

Like I mentioned above there are 5 different varieties to choose from and Wal-Mart had all of them available. The first two are the same product just in different packages. Easy Off Fume Free comes in a trigger spray and regular can spray. This type of Easy-Off is better for every day use so your oven doesn't get bad enough for the Heavy Duty cleaner. The trigger spray can be used in more ways than the can spray and doesn't need gloves, but both are fume free and leave a light lemon scent in the air. The BBQ cleaner is obviously made specifically for your grill, and would be a must for summer time grilling. It is safe to use on all types of grills as well as stainless steal, and aluminum/non-chrome pots and pans. The cooktop cleaner won't scratch or leave a residue on your cooktop, and is safe for all cooktops. It also can be used on glass-ceramic, enamel, stainless steel and chrome.

inside back of oven, before and after
The last is Heavy Duty which is obviously for those really bad messes that you need a little oomph to clean up. Because it seemed like my dad's oven had never been cleaned I opted for this choice. Gloves are a definite must and I advise you to open up a window or door when you use it. Even with the door open the fumes were a bit intense. I can say I never really knew what the roast/broiling pan was. I knew there was a little handle at the bottom of the stove and some weird looking grill thing down there. By the way, that grill thing was filthy! It must had had years worth of whatever built up on it. I hadn't realized it was supposed to be blue-gray until I started cleaning it. One thing that wasn't mentioned is the time needed to clean anything other than your oven. I was left to estimate the time needed to clean the broiler pan. I sprayed it on and left it for 5 minutes and scrubbed it. I noticed it was still dirty so sprayed it again and left it for another 5 minutes. The results are fantastic, not really surprising, and so now I moved onto the oven. Again I can not stress the need for ventilation when using this. If you're oven is as filthy as my dad's was be prepared to use a lot of spray. Obviously that means you are going to have quite a bit of fumes in the air so take care so you don't breath it in. I covered my face while spraying the oven down and it was still pretty intense.
Oven door, before and after
It says on the can that all you need is 5 minutes for it to get to cleaning. Well I know that oven is going to need more than just 5 minutes. I feel like a horrible daughter knowing that my dad was essentially cooking in a death trap. That oven looks one step away from igniting on all the grease and going up in a big ball of flames. So this review couldn't come at a more better time for me. I knew going into this I'd be in for the long haul. I also wondered why the men in my family can't seem to find time to clean their ovens. My brother's oven is not as bad, but certainly was getting worse before I went by to clean it. I thought it would be a hard job, but thankfully with Easy-Off it was just that - easy! I sprayed the oven and left it to sit overnight. The next day I got a little hot water and started scrubbing. I was amazed at how dirty the oven was, and how easily the built up grease was coming off. I changed the water a few times and kept at it. The oven was looking great! There were just a few spots that had some build up still, but I can spray those down at a later time.

Overall, I'm totally impressed with Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. It definitely will continue to be used in my household and my father's house as well. I'm actually going back to get the fume free to keep at both houses to use on a regular basis. Easy-Off Oven Cleaners are all under $5.00 in my area and are totally worth every penny!

Wet Ones Product Review

I was chosen by Smiley360 to do a review on Wet Ones Hand Wipes. They sent me an awesome kit that included a 24ct box of single hand wipes - perfect for on the go, a travel pack of 15 wipes, and a tub of 40 wipes all in the limited editions Citrus Scent. I was also sent some coupons to share with family and friends so they could try out Wet Ones for themselves. With so many kiddos in my family those coupons were definitely appreciated! I of course shared some wipes with my brothers so they could try them out with their little ones.

If you'd like a chance to try out some great products for yourself and your family then check out Smiley360 - Click Here. It's a great program that puts you in touch with a lot of great brands waiting to hear your opinion.

My Review:

I grabbed the box of single hand wipes and started stuffing them into my kiddos bags. I've seen how they eat at home, I can only imagine how messy they get at school. I like that they're easy to open, even for the youngest. The hand wipes are really large, larger than other hand wipes I've used. They were really moist and didn't dry out too quickly. They were able to clean up the messiest of faces, especially after eating one of my chocolate cupcakes. I really didn't want to share, but sharing is caring - right? Kids will always get messy, so it's great to have these single packs handy if you don't want to carry the tub around. The wipe has a nice soft citrus scent to it, not very strong at all. It also didn't dry out my skin, so I know it was gentle on his. It doesn't have a huge alcohol type smell to it either, like some other wipes tend to do.

Next was the tub which took a little work. I found it a little difficult to get the wipe into the top part. Once I threaded it through I then had a problem of keeping it to pull the next one up with the one I was going to use. Not sure if that makes sense to everyone, but bear with me. After several attempts I finally got it working. I just used the extra wipes to clean up the counters and tables so they wouldn't go completely to waste. You probably won't have as much trouble as I did, I'm sure I was doing it incorrectly. Either way these wipes were more like the size of baby wipes. They had the same scent as the single packs and the larger pack. I love these tubs and find them super handy when all you have is one hand to use. Yea, try chasing a one year old around trying to wipe his face when he absolutely wants none of it. Good luck!

Wet Ones Hand wipes are anti-bacterial so they kill 99.99% of bacteria, wipe away grime, and get nice soft hands. They use aloe so that way you hands stay nice and soft and don't get all dried out. They're hypoallergenic as well so they're pretty gentle on your hands. Have a kiddo with sensitive skin? No problem! They also make a special Sensitive Skin wipe that is extra gentle. They are hypoallergenic, alcohol- and fragrance-free! All varieties of Wet Ones are readily available at most grocery and big box stores and are pretty affordable. So head to your local store and find them for yourself - you'll be happy with the results.

Chapstick Dual-End Hydration Lock Review

I was super lucky to be chosen for this great Smiley360 mission. Chapstick came out with a great new product - dual chapsticks! Why deal with having two different chapsticks when you can have just one.

The Dual Ended Hydration Lock Chapstick is for day and night to give you 24hr care. The day end has a built in sunscreen of SPF12 to make sure your lips don't shrivel up in the sun. While the night end works all night to replenish moisture and soften your lips.

They obviously are both so easy to use and even with the dual ends it isn't heavy and bulky. You don't need a lot of product from either end to do the job. One quick swipe and you're good to go, and feel free to reapply as much as you like during the day. I did notice a difference in how smooth and supple my lips looked. Yea, I said supple, because you're lips will look and feel fantastic!

So yea, there are obviously many chapsticks that do the same thing, the major upside is that it's all in one. Everyone loves convenience, and who doesn't need more space in their purse. With the dual end you can have two different chapsticks all in one and you won't have to dig around the bottom of your purse (aka: the bottomless pit) to find the chapstick you want. Because I know you have more than one chapstick in there.

There really isn't any flavor on/in the chapstick. Not that it really needs it, but I'd love a cherry flavor. Seriously, that stuff is amazing, not that I sit there and eat it.

So if you're looking for a chapstick that does it all, then you need to run out and get Chapsticks Dual Ended Hydration Lock, your lips will thank you.

Orajel Single Dose Cold Sore Medication

I was given a chance to try out Orajel Cold Sore medication which includes two single dose treatment vials and one tube of moisturizer. I haven’t had a cold sore, but I can honestly say I didn’t really know what one really was. It wasn’t until one fateful day that a cold sore reared its ugly head and a co-worker screamed, “herpes!” while pointing. I was shocked and appalled, why would she be yelling that, I wasn’t “that type” of girl you know. Well what I had always known as a fever blister was in fact a cold sore. I was told it was just something you got when you were getting really sick. I really had no clue and so when that event happened I went to get informed.

What is a cold sore?
Well first of all just having something appear by your lips does not a cold sore make. I actually didn’t have a cold sore at the time, but a pimple in a unfortunate place. So what exactly is a cold sore? Well they are called fever blisters and are actually groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. It makes the skin red, swollen, and sometimes sore. These blisters may break open and leak clear fluid, which is the moment you have to be extra careful. Most cold sores heal within 2 weeks after scabbing over.

What causes cold sores?
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus or HSV. There are two types of HSV - 1 and 2. HSV-1 is the virus that cause cold sores while HSV-2 is genital herpes. Apparently  both types can cause cold sores so its best to get checked if any appear.

What symptoms should you look for?
Well one obvious symptom to look for is a cold sore. If you’ve been infected you may get pain around you mouth and lips, a fever, sore throat, or swollen glands. Even though most people have these symptoms there are some that never get cold sores or any symptoms. That’s why it’s always get to get periodically checked out by your doctor.

Can cold sores be treated?
While cold sores themselves can be treated you can’t treat the virus itself. Once you have it, it will always be with you for the rest of your life. So the best thing is to try and prevent them.

So how can you prevent cold sores?
Well avoid contact with an infected person, whether its your partner or stranger. Kissing isn’t the only way you can get the virus, sharing anything that an infected person may have used can  also spread it.

If you do happen to contract the virus, relax it isn’t the end of the world. Because over 70 percent of adults in America have oral herpes (HSV-1); so you’re not alone.

With Orajel Cold Sore treatment you can cut the healing time and after just one application it starts to heal your cold sore. Also, it’ll take away the pain really quickly if you have any. It’s pretty simple to use, you take one vial, snap it in half, and then gently rub it on your cold sore. You could also just press down on it to
make sure it covers the cold sore completely. It doesn’t burn and the moisturizer you use afterwards help to keep everything from drying out and looking worse.

While it can be a little expensive there are really no other options when it comes to cold sore medication. Most will take weeks and many applications to start the healing. You can find coupons online and sometimes in the newspaper.

Household Review: OxiClean 2in1 Stain Fighter

Oxiclean 2 in 1 Stain Fighter

I was sent a Walmart Gift card to get myself a bottle of Oxi Clean 2in1 Stain Fighter Laundry Detergent. I have to say the scent was intense, it smelled fantastic. Now OxiClean  isn't just for your whites, it has color safe brightener so its safe for your colors as well.

I have used Oxi-Clean before, but I've never used it in liquid form. I knew it would work with my whites, but how would it do with my colored clothes? Well  it definitely smells great and left my clothes smelling so fresh and clean. The smell is really strong so if you don't really like very strong smells, well this may not be for you. I have four very active boys so I definitely loved the intense smell. It gets out that sweaty smell the clothes can have by the end of the week when its time to finally wash.

I used it for my wash for almost three weeks, almost because it didn't last through all the loads of wash. It was a good size, but when you do about 6-7 loads every week you find out really quickly that even the largest looking bottles don't last that long. The boys apparently like to wear the same shirts over and over, which is fine with me because that means less clothes with stains in them. I noticed that even though I was washing the same shirts multiple times I wasn't really seeing much fading. I won't say there was absolutely no fading, but the colors did seem to fade a whole lot less than other detergents. My nephews shirts that were already a bit faded didn't get any worse, and the newer shirts they have stayed looking new a lot longer.

It was about average price for a 66oz bottle, the price being $8.99 here in Texas. It is made for all types of washers including HE washers. I would recommend using just a little less for a regular was in a HE washer as you don't really need a lot of detergent. Also I did wash using cold water, to save money, and it worked just fine. I think overall it was a great value for the amount of loads I was able to do with it. I did use a little more in certain loads so I'm sure it could have been stretched much longer than 3 weeks.

So if you're looking to buy some detergent then you may want to add OxiClean 2in1 Stain Fighter because you definitely will not regret trying it out.

Beauty Review: Aveeno Dandruff Hair Products

Aveeno Nourish + Dandruff Control
Shampoo and Conditioner

So I have a secret....I have dandruff and pretty dry scalp. It stinks to get a nice pretty hairdo only to notice those pesky white flakes. If you have dandruff you know exactly how I feel. It's embarrassing and unsightly and makes you feel bad. I've dealt with dandruff since I was a teen and it always meant using that stinky anti-dandruff shampoo. You know which ones I'm talking about. I could never stop smelling that strong medicine smell that seemed to last forever for me. Of course they all worked great, but I could never get over the smell.

Thankfully I was introduced to Aveeno's Nourish+ Dandruff Control shampoo/conditioner and 2n1. I love Aveeno products, but can honestly say I've never used their hair products. I am so glad I was able to try this out because its wonderful! It smells great, which I have to admit really made me doubt if it would work well. I guess I associate the smell of anti-dandruff shampoos with their ability to work. Well Aveeno is definitely different and it does work no matter what the smell. It left my hair smelling and looking great.

I received two coupons for a free Aveeno Dandruff product so while I kept one bottle for myself I gave the other to my nephew. He was a little wary of it at first because he was used to a different brand. He tried it out and was really happy because it worked great. He was pretty indifferent about it leaving his hair silky smooth or smelling great, but he's a teenage boy what does he know?  I noticed his healthier locks and dandruff free shoulders and that's what matters most.

By the way I tried really hard to get some photos of the dandruff in my hair, but it seems my eye sees it better than my lens. But I assure you my hair had dandruff before Aveeno and had a significant amount less than before. There was stray flakes here and there, but no itchy scalp and no snow flurries on my shoulders.

So if you're looking for an anti-dandruff shampoo that smells great, leaves your hair soft, and makes you dandruff free...reach for Aveeno Nourish+. It is actually pretty affordable compared to other dandruff shampoos. Also right now you can get yourself a $3.00/1 coupon making it even sweeter to try it out for yourself.

Health Review: Centrum Multi-Vitamin Chews

I was sent some samples to try out by Centrum and Smiley360. I'm always looking for some great vitamins to try out so was looking forward to getting them. I got the samples and opened them up to see two round balls that reminded me of gumballs. You know the kind you bought as a kid for .25 cents. I popped one in my mouth and was pretty surprised at the flavor. First of all they're really sweet, sweeter than I imagined. They were pretty flavorful and the sweet tartness really got to me. The flavor was good, and the texture reminded me of a chewy gummy.

It was hard to even think that this was a vitamin. It really reminded me of candy. There was no gross smell, no weird taste, and no after taste either. You know how some vitamins make you burp up that gross after taste? Not so with these!

Overall this was a great alternative to taking regular vitamins. Although I do think it could be a little less sweet, it was alright. I'll definitely look for these at my store and hopefully they have cherry flavor because that would be awesome!

Campbell's Braised Beef Stew

 CAMPBELL'S SLOW KETTLE SOUP
 BRAISED BEEF STEW

I was lucky to get to try out the new Campbell's Slow Kettle Soup. It comes in a pop top small tub, where the top works as the cover. There are 7 different varieties as of now:
  • Braised Beef Stew
  • Kicken Crab and Sweet Corn Chowder
  • Portobello Mushroom & Madeira Bisque
  • Roasted Chicken & Chardonnay
  • Southwest-Style Chicken Chili
  • Tomato & Sweet Basil Bisque
  • Tuscan-Style Chicken & White Bean

All of the Campbell's Slow Kettle soups contain less than 300 calories per serving. For every soup you get 2 servings of 1 cup. I got the top off and grabbed the tab, sadly though it was a little work to get the top actually open. I was kind of scared of spilling it every where. Once it was opened up I can honestly say I didn't think it was very appetizing. The orange color with the tiny bits of veggies floating around didn't get me thinking happy thoughts. But you never know how something will taste until you try it out. So I grabbed a pan and dumped the soup into it so it could get nice and hot.

Don't laugh at my extremely beat up pot!

While I waited for the soup to heat up I decided to check out the nutritional values and all that good stuff. I was actually really saddened by what I saw. I have been trying to live more healthy this year which means cutting down on my salt intake, calories, and carbs. The sodium was 830mg for just one serving. Everything else was fine for me, but for having that little bit of a serving it was just too much salt. For adults you should have anywhere from 1,500mg to 2,400mg daily so to have almost half of that in 1 cup of soup is just not acceptable for me. With that being said I measured out my 1 cup and planned the rest of my day around it so I could really try it out and give my honest opinion. It's a good thing I love salads because I had a great salad for dinner.

Now back to the soup! It has braised beef with baby bella mushrooms, carrots, celery, roasted potatoes and burgundy wine. The beef was tender and not chewy at all, it fell apart so easily. The potatoes were firm and not mushy. I didn't notice the mushrooms too much, they were cut a bit small and really blended in with everything else. The carrots and celery were a bit softer than I like, but they weren't unpleasant. The taste was good and wasn't salty at all, which was a good thing.

Overall, the taste was good, the quality was there and it made a good, albeit small, lunch. I really hope that Campbell's makes a lower sodium version of these because they are really tasty. I did also try the chicken chili and wow - delish!

Product Review: Advil Congestion Relief

ADVIL CONGESTION RELIEF

I was so good about taking care of the kids that I hadn't even realized that I was coming on with the flu. My body ached and hurt so badly just breathing was a chore. As I fought the mighty flu a new symptom started plaguing me..CONGESTION. I first dealt with chest congestion and took meds diligently for that. As my chest congestion went away I was so happy, thrilled in fact. Then it hit me like a ton of mucus filled bricks! Sinus congestion like no other. I felt like my head was floating in the ocean lost forever.

Then I remembered a small yellow box I received from Smiley360. It was a small pack of Advil Congestion Relief and what a relief it was! I tore open the box like a child on Christmas day, actually it may have been Christmas. Anyway I grabbed the one pill, as per directions, popped it in my mouth and chugged down a glass of water to help it go down. I then proceeded to sleep the day away because that helps your body get better. Sleep and meds were all I saw for the next couple of days until a break through - I could breathe! Yes I could actually breathe through my nose without gagging on...well I'll save you guys from that mental picture. The Advil not only helped my congestion to go away it also helped with my fever and the aches and pains I had.

Advil can be a bit more expensive but believe me it's totally worth it. The chance at getting rid of my congestion for just a few extra dollars was a good trade off for me. Advil also was nice enough to provide a $2.00/1 coupon so you can get out there and try it for yourself. Since right now is the time for sickness there are tons of sales going on so check them out to get the best price, just don't forget your coupons!

Thanks Smiley360 and Advil for helping me to take a deep breathe again.

Bic Mark It

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM BIC MARK*IT

Was so happy to get this mission from Smiley360 because I love markers. Yes - markers, pens, color pencils, and crayons are always in abundance in my house. I horde them for myself for those times when I want to go back to my childhood days. Yup I like to color, its pretty therapeutic for me.

This mission I was given the task to make a snowman ornament from a light bulb. I stared at the light bulb and sat there for a moment.I was drawing blank, how would I make a cool ornament snowman out of a light bulb. So to google I went! I searched  to get a general idea and then set out to work. I knew I'd have to paint the bulb before it went onto the tree because it wasn't really white. Then I thought well that isn't really safe for my household. I have 5 kiddos and 2 furry babies so need to make sure they're safe and sound. My dogs love to look out the window and with my 10yr old 99lb pitbull his tail is like a catapult to any nearby ornaments. So that's when my next idea hit me...paper mache! This would make it a little more sturdier and safer for the kids. Also would make it easier to paint and glue.

Now I hadn't even done a paper mache anything since middle school. I had to look it up in order to get the recipe to make it.
Paper Mache:
1 part water and 2 parts flour
Shred paper, newspaper, tissues

That's about it, pretty easy right? Then there was the issue of there only being one light bulb in the pack. Which I easily remedied with searching the house for burnt out light bulbs. I was in luck because I found 3 more!

I was feeling totally inspired and decided that I would be making a penguin and a snowman ornament. My niece wanted to make a turkey ornament for whatever reason only known to her. So we got to work. Thankfully Bic sent us everything we would need to make some pretty awesome ornaments. I took the light bulbs and covered those suckers with the paper mache. It was nice and messy for the kids, which they thoroughly enjoyed. After we had made a huge mess with the paper mache we let the light bulbs sit and dry. I let them sit over night and found they still weren't completely dry in the morning. This was probably because it was pretty cold in the kitchen so it took a little longer.

It was okay though and when they were dry my niece and I snatched them up before the boys even noticed. So I found that we didn't have any paint in the house...none what so ever! I don't know what happened to all the paint but I figured it was alright. The penguin would have a lot of black, the turkey brown, and the snowman - well snow isn't always pure white, right? So I figured the snowWOMAN would be made using Texas snow, which as everyone knows in South Texas there isn't such a thing as snow. It's like this mythical creature that only exists in our imaginations. Yes the closest thing we get are snow flurries which lightly coats the ground and turns the dry dirt into mud. This would be a snowwoman made out of that.

So I grabbed my markers and went to work on the penguin, the black was really solid and I only needed on coat to cover the paper mache completely. I then got the felt and cut out some strips to make some scarves for the penguin and snowwoman. I then cut some tiny circles for the eyes, and a couple circles for the cheeks of my snowwoman. I really felt inspired by the wide array of colors that you get in the 36pk. Seriously who knew yellow could look so different.

When all was said and done we had three uber cute ornaments and we had a ball. My niece was able to peel herself from the tv and actually do something that required a little more thought. I'm so glad we got chosen for this mission. I still use the markers, in fact, we used them to color/paint some figurines that I got for Christmas, but that's a whole nother post.

Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce

Less Sodium Teriyaki

So I got some coupons courtesy of Smiley360 to do a review on Kikkoman's Juicy Bird Project using Soy Sauce. I was given 2 coupons one for a free product and the other was a buy 1 get 1 free product. With the latter I bought this bottle of Low Sodium Teriyaki Marinade and Sauce. I am trying to cut my salt intake so opted for low sodium in the teriyaki, it is still a little high at 13% DV but it could have been worse.

I had some beef short ribs already thawed out and waiting to get tasty. I grabbed a bag tossed them in and added some teriyaki sauce to it. The smell was pretty strong and it was everywhere in the kitchen. I knew it was going to be even better on my beef. I then thought, hmm what would take it up another notch? ONION! I love using onion in my dishes to add some extra flavor. I just cut them up in slices and threw them in the bag, and then I threw in some pepper as well. I let it sit in the bag for about 35 minutes and then it was ready to cook.

I placed them on a pan added a tiny bit of water and put them in the oven at 350. I would have covered them up with some foil, but sadly I had run out of it. I let them cook till their inner temp was 160. Always make sure your meat, pork, and poultry is cooked all the way through. I'd hate to see any of you guys on an episode of, "Monsters Inside Me". Temps should be between 140 and 160 to make sure all the bacteria inside your protein is good and dead.

I had some of the ribs just tenderized with some of my regular spices as well as some onion to see if there was a difference between the two. The beef that was marinated in the Kikkoman Teriyaki sauce was juicer and much more flavorful. It had a great taste to it and everyone loved it!

If you ever have a chance then you need to go out there and buy yourself a bottle of Kikkoman's Teriyaki Marinade and Sauce. It isn't very expensive, about $2.84, so it definitely won't hurt to try it out. You can find them in grocery stores all over the world so keep your eyes peeled.
