Invisalign for Teens Review

INVISALIGN FOR TEENS

I'm excited to bring you some information about Invisalign for Teens. I can speak for many parents when saying being a kid now is totally different than when we were kids. With children being so critical sometimes wearing braces can be tough for a preteen who is just coming into themselves. Sometimes you have to get braces no matter what so why go through all that extra hassle when you can just get Invisalign. There are no wires to worry about as Invisalign takes all that and tosses it. All you do is pop in a new set of aligners whenever your dentist says its time.

Question: What the difference between traditional braces and Invisalign for Teens?

Getting traditional braces can be painful and you can't eat all foods you normally would. Want a piece of gum? Sorry with traditional braces that just isn't possible. Want to brush your teeth and floss like you normally would? Count that out as well because you can't do that with traditional braces. You can with Invisalign because its so easy. You can just pop off your aligners and brush normally, which helps to cut down on tooth decay. With regular braces you also can get painful mouth sores from the wires rubbing against your lips or cheeks. For this reason we have put off getting the kids braces, I don't want something that's going to cause them unneeded pain.

Question: What happens if my teen loses their aligner or forgets to put them on?
Well with Invisalign if you have an active teen that is always losing things, Invisalign has got you covered. Invisalign for Teens will provide up to six FREE replacements just in case it gets "misplaced". Having a 14yr old in my household, he is always misplacing items only for them to turn up days later. Which is actually just fine! If you teen accidentally forgets to put them on, or they get misplaced for a few days, it's okay. As long as the aligners are not out for a long period of time, your teens teeth will still come out looking great.

Question: How much does Invisalign for Teens cost?
Worried about the cost of Invisalign, well you'll be happy to know that it doesn't cost much more than traditional braces. Depending on your needs the average only runs about $5,000 and is covered by most dental plans.  If your dental insurance doesn't cover Invisalign for Teens you can get onto an affordable monthly payment plan. Book Review - The Lynching of Louie Sam

THE LYNCHING OF LOUIE SAM
BY ELIZABETH STEWART

This story is about a young boy named, Louie Sam, a Native American who was part of the Sto:lo First Nation. Louie Sam was the only lynching to take place in Canada between 1882 and 1968. This book was inspired by his true story of how he was wrongly accused and murdered of a crime he didn't commit. It opens your eyes to the reality of racism in America. I think in order to know how we got where we are today, we must look to the past. This tells one of the worst things for America to go through so well.

The story is told from the view of 15yr old George Gillies, a young boy living in the Washington Territory. Being the eldest son he leads a typical life until one day when he finds his neighbors house on fire. He finds his neighbor and pulls him out only to find out that he is dead. From then on you meet the rest of the characters in the book, which some are not all good people. At first look you think you've solved the case as the evidence is pretty much laid before you, but is it really that easy? George Gillies doesn't think so and begins to look into the truth behind the murder after seeing Louie Sam. He just doesn't believe that such a young boy could brutally murder a man. Upon looking at the evidence he sees the truth unfold and is practically hopeless to do anything about it. His father is a great support for him, but in the end the truth about the murder goes "unsolved".

Elizabeth Stewart does an excellent job of bringing the story of Louie Sam to the world. I for one had never heard of this and am quite apalled. I think this is something that everyone should read, even children. It gives you a lesson about acceptance, and not assuming someone's guilt before looking at the whole picture.

You can purchase the book on Amazon.com for about $12.95, and really recommend reading it. HERE

Beauty Corner Reviews - JULEP Daisy

JULEP  - "DAISY"

So I ended up purchasing another box of polishes from JULEP and ended up with another yellow polish. The is the second one they have sent me so at first I thought it was a dup of "Blake". This was not the case, while Blake was a very light, mellow yellow; Daisy is intense. I noticed with Daisy the polish was creamier, and more full. I liked that as it meant less layers of polish would be needed to cover my nail.

I put it on and wow, I actually really loved it and am actually pleased about getting the June box. Like the other Julep polishes it lasted for about 7days before it chipped. You can either buy them in stores or online for $14 each or get a Julep Maven box for $19.99. I'm still up in the air about whether these are worth that price. Because you receive another item along with the two polishes I'd say everything is about $6.67 each.

Beauty Corner Reviews - PERL Nail Strips

PERL Nail Strips

So I was very fortunate to get a free box of PERL Nail Strips, actually I shouldn't say free because I did pay shipping. Anyway I paid $5.95 for this set and was pretty excited and couldn't wait to try them. It doesn't really have a name anywhere but as you can see in the photos its black with rainbow dots. The dots are raised so it gives a bit of a 3d effect. It came with 2 sets - 20 nail strips, instructions, cuticle pusher and a mini file. The instructions were pretty easy to read so I figured it would be a piece of cake. That wasn't really how it went though. I decided to do my pointer finger first and picked out a size I thought would fit. I am not sure if I have wide nails or what but none of them seemed like they'd be a good fit. Found one though and went to work.

The arrow shows it...right there....see it?
Now it seems easy to pull off the plastic backing, but it wasn't I went to take it off and it pulled a bit which made the strip lose its shape a bit. It says to lay it down and press it, which I did and then bend the excess over the tip of the nail and file off. Now maybe I was doing it wrong but for the life of me it wouldn't file off easily. It basically just bent in and stayed there. I filed some more and finally it came off but it was pretty jagged. I looked at my handy work and noticed it didn't really cover my whole nail. You can't see it too well but in the photo there is a piece of nail showing on the side. At that point there isn't much else you can do about it but suck it up and move on.  The end result on my pointer finger was just sad, it didn't cover my whole nail, was a bit stretched out, and was lumpy. It wasn't smooth at all like real nail polish. I tried my other nails but they were such a failure I couldn't bear to share them with you. Seriously I must totally suck at putting these on because they did not look pretty at all.

So not a pretty picture.
I'm sure there are people who are experts at putting on nail stickers and their nails look fantastic. I am not one of those people and I'm not sure if I'll ever be. So there sit my pretty nail stickers in their box in a drawer where I may later try my hands - or nails at it again.

I would still recommend getting some nail stickers as it doesn't hurt to try them out. They're pretty affordable and are really pretty. I'm sure if I could do it better my nails would look awesome. If you get them and try them out I'd love to see them! Let me live vicariously through you and see your awesome nails.

PERL  Nail Stickers go for $9 for 20 nail stickers - which is about $4.50 for 1 set. That's pretty affordable if ya ask me. You can shop for them online at their website - PERL.

Beaty Corner Review - COS BAR at Target

COS BAR
at Target

"Copper"

So I think we've all seen the commercials on tv about COS BAR at Target. I've been contemplating on whether or not I should buy some polish and finally did. They are pretty affordable at $3.00 and you get 0.33 fl oz which isn't much smaller than most polishes on the market. There are only 4 colors available right now: "Copper", "Purple", "Lime Green" and Bronze. They had only Purple and Copper left at my Target store so I grabbed Copper up. I have a ton of purple polishes but not a lot of orange. Thats surprsingly what this polish is, a bright orange with yellow specks throughout. I was expecting something more brownish orange, but its still a pretty color. It was smooth, creamy and only took 2 coats to cover.

As soon as they have more colors at my Target I'll buy them as well. The only problem is aside from "Copper" I have the colors already in my collection. I think while they colors are pretty, they have been done before. I'm looking for something new and exciting.

Arm & Hammer Detergent

ARM & HAMMER CRYSTAL BURST DETERGENT

So I joined a great website called smiley360 a while ago and it has given me the opportunity to try out some fantastic new products. One of those products was A&H Crystal Burst Single Use Detergent Packs. First off it isn't liquid detergent like other brands. This makes the fragrance much more concentrated, so once you open the bag you can smell it. I've used a few other pods and the fragrance just doesn't show up, but with Arm & Hammer it does. I just throw 1 in with a large load and start it up. Super easy, no measuring or second guessing. I have found though that for large loads that are heavier, like jeans or sheets, that 2 is better than one. One pack will get it clean but 2 will leave it smelling even more fresh. These are also on the cheaper end compared to other packs which means you can stock up fairly easily.

I really recommend trying these out if you've tried out other brands. You'll be pleasantly surprised and won't regret it!

**Disclaimer: I was sent this full size sample from Smiley360 so I could review it and share. All opinions are my own and I received no further compensation.

ARM & HAMMER® Sensitive Toothpaste

ARM & HAMMER® Sensitive Toothpaste: Thanks ARM & HAMMER(R) 4 my free product! Get your free sample of Sensitive Toothpaste http://bit.ly/wT0KE7 *Please remember the FTC requires you to mention that you received a free sample courtesy of Smiley360 when sharing.

My Review: I tried this out in my own home for 2 weeks, and was surprised. I knew Arm & Hammer, as a brand, worked but was a little skeptical when it came to this toothpaste. Having sensitive teeth I've tried many different toothpastes that didn't help too much. This has a great taste, leaves your teeth feeling clean, your breath smells fresh for hours, and no pain! There were some coupons in the newspaper so you can go out and buy some to try for yourself. You can also go to the above link and get your own sample to try.
